The Bayou City

Known as the Bayou City, Houston is crisscrossed by a number of bayous -- sluggish, slow-moving streams. Many of them flow into Buffalo Bayou, the site of the city’s birthplace at Allen’s Landing Park at the foot of Main Street in downtown.
